Here it is, the real deal...a 1957 Gibson Les Paul Junior that is overall looking wonderful. This one is absolutely a player...easy on the eyes, ears and hands...almost plays itself!
The guitar was professionally refretted (expertly performed), which has revitalized the guitar. The tuners were upgraded to more a modern set, but in the same vintage style...no new holes needed to be drilled. The original tuners are included in the sale.
Weighing in at 6 pounds, 15 ounces, the guitar just feels "right." The neck also boasts that Goldilocks feel...not too big, and not too thin. Action is great...currently strung with 9's.
The headstock has some finish checking, along with some signs of wear, but nothing detrimental or out of the ordinary given the age of the guitar. There is a finish crack on the backside of the headstock that is merely in the finish and NOT the wood. No headstock repair! The stamped serial number is in great shape...often times they are smudged or faded, but that is not the case here. Fretboard is in awesome condition, and the frets have decades of life left in them. Again, the refret was a professional and clean job. The back of the neck also has some finish checking, but no large areas of wear, which is very common with these vintage instruments. The body also has plenty of finish checking, as well as a few blemishes that have gone through the finish and to the wood.
The guitar was professionally inspected in 2016, and the finish is all original. No refinishing!
The P90 has a great voice and truly sings. Nothing short of the classic full and rich tone a quality P90 is known for.
Under the hood, the pots and the tone capacitor are all original, as pictured.
Comes with non-original older hardshell case that fits it quite well.
Ultimately, this is perfect for collector or player...it's not in mint condition, but it's certainly not a beater. It's meant to be played and loved!
